Welcome to my blog. I don't know if anyone will ever read my blogs, but I wanted a place to vent honestly and not have my comments silently deleted.
Large companies and major products would probably not censor critical comments, but how about those small up-and-coming companies. I am talking specifically about an online donut company where you can only get their donuts from them online. They are healthier, low fat, not fried and most varieties are delicious. The problem is the cost - not only per donut, but for the shipping. They're shipping flash frozen in dry ice. If you grumble on Facebook about the cost, but rave about the donuts your comments will disappear. If you read their Facebook page you'd think they live in la la land. No-one ever complains about the cost (because, really, it's the only thing to complain about). How about $16 for six donuts, or $26 for 16 cinnamon bun middles, or $19 for 30 donut holes? Not bad enough? You have to order at least three assortments and then add the shipping......around $50+ to my home state of Florida. So, for the least amount of donuts (18,) because of their minimum order, I would have to pay $95. *Holey* cow! That's more than $5.25 per donut. You'd think someone might say something about the cost, but there's nary a word. Only raves and compliments. I think they have someone whose only job it is to handle Facebook. Within minutes of any less-than-flattering comment, it quietly disappears.
They do have special offers and giveaways pretty often, but it's still very expensive. The minimum order usually goes up. The best deal would be half off (or more) with free shipping. Then I'm in! I should add that the owner, Frank, goes out of his way to make sure you're happy. He always makes things right.
As I am writing this, it's really tempting. There's free shipping today and I would save $62 on the required five assortment order, but I know myself. Once they're in my house that's all I would eat until they're gone. $103 worth of donuts in a few days. Probably another pound or two too. I can't afford the donuts and the weight. If I just get through today, the deal will be over and I'll have saved myself the dough and the dough :-) One hour at a time. Maybe during the activities of the day I'll forget and it will be too late. We'll have to see.
